Starbucks Beware !!!

Dagan Cafe is hitting in Malaysia by storm! Stores after stores, outlets after outlets! The coffee taste so much better than Coffeebean or Starbucks. Its the very first coffee family in Malaysia which from plantation to manufacturing and to coffee brewing till the final product - a nice hot cuppa coffee or icy cold ice blended mocha. I hope we will have the coffee selling everywhere in Singapore soon. We will have a special corner for all the vagsg members. hehee

This is the latest outlet at Carrefour, Batu Pahat, right at the main enterance. Welcome!

Ow Pa's 60th Bday Celebration

We celebrated ow pa's 60th birthday at Ocean Restuarant, Batu Pahat together with Uncle David & Uncle Alan. Some big shots from the Malaysia Chinese Business Association. Food was good as usual. The first dish was already extra steamulation to your taste buds. It was the abalone with sharkfin. Followed by many more yummy food and the desert was birdnest, can you believe it? ;)

Despite with all these food, we wish our dearest ow pa, Happy Birthday and good health !

Kids simply love Christmas

Aiai got the kids some jigsaw puzzles & books for their Christmas pressies. You dont see them so excited when you ask them to go study! Kids are always kids!

Philips Shopping Spree

So nice of James to arrange this Philips Shopping Spree for all the birdies. For all the domastic appliances, everything go for 40% off. We met outside the Philips gate at 9am. Dashed like crazy and in the end, only knew that the showroom opened at 9.30pm. Everyone felt like killing James but we got to be cool coz we were there to save some bux! heee..

9.30pm, we rushed into the showroom and started to browse around. Me eyeing the 3head shaver and in the end, got more than we required to buy. We bought, the F1 shaver, 2 steam iron, 2 clock radio and a floor cleaning device (still dont know how it works) and ended up $400+. Viven was the biggest spender and her receipt read $800+. We were nothing as compared to hers.

After the Philips shopping, we crossed the road and went for prata brunch!

Vagsg is 5yr old!

5yrs of hard work running this forum and yes, it has been 5 solid years already.

Thanks to all the admin team members whom have brought the forum from zero to where it is now as an established car club with more than a thousand of members and more than 10 sponsors financially backing us up.

This year, we had our dinner at Changi Village Hotel which just right beside the pool plus the awesome changi beach view. Buffet dinner was delicious and the company was great. As usual, Quek was invited as our VIP and he also sponsored our lucky draw prizes. We had a very good turnout and we even managed to break even the cost.

Kim Thye & Becky be our guest

The Xmas tree has finally setup!
It has been there for weeks just hadnt have the time to do up the deco. So, this afternoon, drove to Causeway point and purchase the Xmas tree lightings and put them on, plus all the accessories. Doesnt it look nice?

Kim Thye & Becky came over to our place and had dinner with us. We had the traditional home made wine and soy souce chicken specially cooked by the great chef, Kim Thye. Simple but delicous.

After the dinner, 4 of us walked to Causeway point and do some shopping. I got 2 DVDs and one
was "See No Evil" by Christina VidalKane. Yummy thriller show with lots of bloody scens. Karen and Becky bought themselves some sports tees and Kim Thye got us some fruits for our hiking session tomorrow.
Best of all, we got 2 tubs of icecream from Gelare - Chocolate Overload and Cookie&Cream. Its Heavenly shiok!

Whitford Company D&D

You bet! Its our company D&D - Cruise to nowhere with the "Pirate" as the theme.
We just got to work for half a day on Friday and everybody left the office at 12.15pm. I went to have a hair cut at my regular hair stylist at JeanKit. 5.45pm, me and Aiai arrived at the HarbourFront and joined the rest of the colleagues and board the party ship. Its also my first time attending Whitford's D&D and my first time doing D&D on a boat. Its simply awesome! Herbert & wife joined our table and we got quite a prime view from all the happening performances at the stage.

Like any other company dinner & dance, MD would give a short speech, followed by the long service awards and some other technical awards. Games, lucky draws (yes yes yes, where were my new bird's luck), disco dancing, and the buffet food. Endless fun ended quickly at 11.30pm when the boat returned back to the shore. We had a great time and hope to attend many more D&Ds in Whitford.

Monster Training by Kim Thye

Its our first time going tracking in Bukit Timah Hill. We got Kim Thye, Becky and Alison to come along with us. Alison came to pick us up at 8.30am and then we arrived at Bukit Timah Hill at 9am where Kim Thye and Becky just arrived with their car parked.

I just put on my new Timberland tracking shoes and we were ready to rock the hill.

Startly, it was easy as it seems. Nice walking path with steep slope up the hill. Going up some hundred stairs and we reached the summit in less than 20mins.

But thats not it. Its just 10% of the whole jounrey. That was just some warm up. The tough ones were all those up and low muddy grounds and hundreds of stairs where my legs almost wanna gave up on me. Even Becky seems to be much stronger and energtic than me.

Thanks to Kim Thye. I almost puke after climbing the 250 stairs in the middle of the hill. This was just very mild as compared to Miri. I think if I go Miri, I will just spend the rest of the day relaxing at the beach and let those guys go have their fun in the mountains. heee...

After all those climbings up and down, finally, we came back to the finishing point. I just felt like I was a good lunch. We had a wash up and then we headed down to Bukit Timah hawker centre to have our lunch.

Last but not least, we all gave ourselves a good treat for a good icecream!

Taka Shopping Spree

Got a $150 taka shopping vouncher by attending the stupid Timeshare presentation by Marriott Vacation at Taka. We walked off after 1hr of sitting there pretending we were damn keen about the package. Infact, it was so expensive that nobody actually signed up for it. Everyone there was just to get the shopping vouncher and go.

So, we got our shopping vouncher and did some shopping. Since I have no tracking shoes for our upcoming Miri trip at the end of the year, so we went to look for a pair of good tracking shoes for me. Came across the Timberland section where they were giving 15% discount for all their items and I spotted this cool stuff...

Which orginally cost $250+ but after discount, its merely $160+. Plus a pair of shoes, I paid just $30. What a steal!

Later, met Bugzilla for Lunch at HK Central Cafe in Taka and then we headed straight to Silra home for our weekly voluntary work.

Dinner with Jas & Eugene

Din know people can actually got into argument in yahoo messager. haha. Anyway, we had a nice dinner with Jas & Eugene at the famous hangout place for MCF (My Car Forum). Those MCF guys will definetely know where I am refering. Pretty nice setups at the restuarant now and best of all, free parking.

After the dinner, we had our desert at Häagen-Dazs icecream at Bishan. 30% discount and you cant ask for more. Eat until my tummy can turn into a bouncing ball.

Boonie's Wedding

Attended Boonie & Martin's wedding banquet at Amara Singapore. Nice and cosy and love the super long walkway to the stage too. Food was fairly good too. 2 Tables of SBS consisting ex-SBS colleagues and it was a nice catch-up session with the fellow Sumitomo guys too.

Congrats to both Boonie & Martin and wishing you happily ever after.

I broke my record - Bowling

Its our company's bowling event and its also my first company event which I joined since my Whitford dayz here. Ok, being the sporty me, I have no reason not to join the event.

Office shuted at 3pm and everyone was at the Raffles Marina at 3.30pm and the game started at 4pm. I was put in lane 8 and was coupled with some pros. 3 games and totol to be the final score. My first game was 79 and I just knew its gonna be a bad day for me. Suddenly, I felt the power was within me and I scored 140 for my 2nd game and followed another 139 for my 3rd game. Wohh.. never in my life, I scored so well. Hhehee.. So damn happy!

Got my new Stealth!

Always wanted to get a new starhub line to be one of the Hub Club to save on my monthly bills from starhub. Just then, my company is giving all managers a 50% sponsors for all PDA that allows us to read/send our corporate emails. (dont know if its good news or bad).

So, as early as 9am, I was at the Starhub Plaza Sing to queue for a good number and to get the new O2 Stealth but after waiting for 1.5hr for their shop to open, the staff told me that very limited stock available right now. The nearest branch will be at Vivocity.

Called up ow mei to meet me there so that I can use her old K700i to trade in and give her my N70. We both had our lunch first at the foodcourt (as usual, packed like crazy on weekdays in Vivo) while waiting for my queue no to be called.

After like 2 hrs or waiting time, finally got my hands on the new Stealth. Some dont like the rubbery feel on the unit but I love it. Its like its wearing the condom casing. :P

Met Rimei & the gang for dinner at HK Cafe @ Novena.

Where our 5th D&D gonna be

Its thurs evening. The rain had just stopped and 4 of us proceed to recee our upcoming Vagsg annual D&D location at Changi Village Hotel along Netheravon Road. Its one of the finest hotel outside city zone and yet holding its fine quality and lifestyle for its customers. Highly recommended by BlueGti as he always hold his corporate events over here and thus we able to get very special rates from the catering director, Irene. She was so nice to brought us up to the 8th floor where the pool was. Overseeing the whole horizon of Changi beach and the evening sky was just so perfect to hold our event over here. Now, we just need to sort out the date before we launch our promotion.

Vagsg Mega GTG

As early as 6am in the morning, both Jon and myself were already up washing our cars at the Rosewood. We just want our steeds to look at its best on the once-a-year Mega GTG event. After the wash, we headed down to Newton Circus to meet up with the Central Convoy team at 8.30am. We got the largest convoy team as compared to the East and the West. The CAM dudes also joined us in the convoy and that made us more than 15 cars in that morning drive. Both Jon and I took the lead and we spilt them up into 2 groups.

The convoy was really cool. Up the AYE highway and exit out from Marina South and we were also the first team to reach the main carpark. But very soon, the other convoy teams had also arrived. With all the 60plus cars to arrange for the formation for photoshooting wasnt easy at all. Thanks to the admin team plus some helpers over there, we managed to get the formation we wanted in about a hours time.

Ow Ma Birthday celebration

Spent a very nice family dinner at one of the Chinese Restuarant at Danka Bay. Its a family dinner celebration for Owma's 60th birthday. I always love such a family dinner. Make me feel that the family value is so important.

After the dinner, we took a stroll along the bay. So much like walking along Sydney Habour, minus the temperature. hee

Suddenly, I just lost all the interest in modding my car

Thats because I have seen this baby up front and personal this afternoon when I went to PA to collect my kab.
I got the honour to have a mini tour to the fleet of the new TT mkII at the service center at 3rd floor where they stock them up for engine checks and inspection till the cars are registered. When I opened one of the TT and run my fingers across those beautiful leather seat already make me salivate profusly. Those dash and console already make me steamly hot. Ohh.. I really want one.

Botak Jones

Had been reading so much about it and this evening, we decided to give it a try. Took a long long way (thanks for our dear GPS) to Houggang and then back to AMK Ave 5 before we hit Blk608 to locate the damn makan place - Botak Jones.

When we reached, we were already starving like hell and still got to wait for another 30mins before our food can be served. No choice. We waited. Aiai's hot and spicy dog came first.

Crispy fries with lots of onions make the whole dish finger-licking good. I ordered the Canjun burger which only came much later. Will give it another try for other food there.

A Day with Jon(zilla)

The dude came over to have lunch with us at Rosewood Restaurant. Japanese fried rice with miso soup. After our lunch, we zaino our rides together at the carpark. He was impressed with how fantastic Zaino can do on his Phantam Black A4. He was sold and he will be signing up a membership package with Groomworks. Gezz... Yong should pay me comm mann!

After our zaino session, we went to Lower Pierce @ Upper Thomson Road for some photoshoot. The sky was overcast and there was really nothing much we can shoot.

Below is one which I like very much.

Some shopping at G2000

Its time to get some new shirts and pants for my new job next Monday. Spent a total of $250 to buy 4 business shirts and a pants at G2000, Raffles City. Thanks to Aiai. Its my birthday present, part 2? Heee... Next, my working shoes.... lets save this to Friday shopping spress, shall we?

Next, we meet up with the helpers (brothers & sisters) for RiMei and Edmun wedding this coming 13th Oct. Long discussion and its the 2nd meeting and yet, it ended at 10.15pm. Wanted to buy some mooncakes but guess all shops could have closed by then. Cant wait to be their photographer coz it will be my first time using DSLR for a wedding shot event. Hee..

New Tyres, New Rims

Finally after 2 years of rubbing.. I drove my car to South East to get my tyres all changed to Goodyear Eagle F1.
After hearing so much good reviews and feedback about the F1 users, think its the best tyre for the bucks. Got my mtm rims changed to Titanium in color too. Goes very well with my Altas Grey, very bengish, but I like!

Me and Jon then went to Canon, HarbourFront to get our both 30D serviced there. Spent $21 to get them to clean our sensors which we both found dust particles on our pictures. I also managed to get a free 1G CF card and a Canon camera bag which I got it redeemed from my warranty card. Not bad!

Mooncake Festival at Silra Home

What's more meaningful than spending your mooncake festival with the needy? Yes, we had lots of activities such as games, performance, yummy food and mooncakes at the Silra Home this afternoon. And for the first time, we took the elderly out for a stroll nearby with the lanterns in the evening.

New volunteers like Michelle and a group of Chinese students came down to help out and make the day more merry. They were helpful and brought many joys to the old folks. Three cheers to them!

BBQ at Sandra's Condo

What a great BBQ at Sandra's place this evening. Almost all the old IT gang plus a couple of guys like Kertrina and Raja were all invited to the BBQ. Even Dorothy came along too. Hearing those guys' stories about travelling to India, China and Philippines really made us all laugh like hell.

Had a great catch up session with the folks and we target to have the next one during Xmas time. Thanks to both Sand and Clara for organizing.

Good Bye Sumitomo Bakelite!

The final countdown - 22 Sept 06 will mark my farewell to Sumitomo Bakelite which I had been working for more than 6yrs. The experience I had made me a stronger man to accept new challenges in my next career.

These are the people which made me feel so hard to part with the company. But I am sure this will not end our friendship, it's a new beginning.

To all my lovely colleagues in SBS, I wish you all the best in SBS and many happiness, joy and wealth to be with you.

My IT Team (left - right: Alan, Ohta, Me, BoonSwee, Lai Fun & Tommy)
