CNY Day 2 - Ah Ma Dinner Reunion

After sending ow mei back to her condo, we drove to Ah Ma's place (Jurong) to pai nien. As usual, we were always the last one to arrive. Its ok tho. We can always give the 'We had bad jam at causeway' excuse. :-)

Small place for other 20 folks to gather around but it was really great fun to see everyone. The aunties, including Mummy spent hours in the kitchen doing the dinner and the food was good but the soup was 'slightly' over spicy for my liking! :-

CNY Day 1 - Kampong Dinner Reunion

This year, it was a much smaller group than previous year. Valerie had her chicken pox and brother and sister both aint feeling too good and therefore, only me and aiai and parents went for the kampong dinner instead. The dinner was good. Lots of fish, chicken & duck, plus 5 cans of abalone.

After the dinner, we had a few poker games and making those kids happy. Lots of good catch up with the uncles, aunties plus the cousines and of coz, we will be coming back for more this coming Wednesday for Kuku's wedding at Batu Pahat.

First visit to Julani's house

The side walk of the house.

The spaceous living room with a touch of class.

The Italian design painting with lite-up function.

That afternoon back to JB. Julani invited both myself and aiai to her newly renovated house back in JB. Tho it was quite a drive away but looked like its a developing housing estate. Many huge houses were built there including the biggest shopping complex - Jusco, is just a stone throw away.

Our Sweet CNY Decors

Finally, me and aiai managed to find time to put up all our new year decors in our house. Not too many but just enough to highup the CNY spirit in our sweet little home.

CNY Clothes

Spent our whole evening shopping for our new year clothes. Been to Suntec City and Tangs. Aiai bought herself a couple of Echo tops, 2 Lacoste polos, a nice office-wear jacket from Tangs. For myself, I just get a nice soft-blue Lacoste polo.

My non-MC day PayBack

Got my NTUC vouchers from company today. Thats because I havent been taking any MC for the year of 2005. Just like previous year, I will use these vouchers to buy abalone for mum and inlaws. But $350 will be an overkill to just buy abalone alone. So.....

we got 6 cans of NewMoon Abalone and 4 boxes of Chinese Mandarines. All spent in a single night. :-)

The real Geisha

You have not seen the real Geisha, havent you!? Here is one! Ha! :-)
Havent been putting on my mask for ages and there goes the nags from my aiai. Ok, here we go. Putting them on and hope my skin will be smooth smooth again!

My new bed sheet

Our new bedsheet for the brand new year. Got it 'free' from Metro (by redeem points from Aiai's credit cards). Aiai spent her afternoon putting the new bedsheet up all by herself. Like it? Oh yes, I love it. It gives the whole room a new cosy feel. Oh boy, I am going to have a good good sleep tonite lor.

Chinese New Year Hamper

My baby has been always so excited in doing stuff like this - Hampers! She will always love shopping little little goodies and things and packed them nicely in a hamper like this. We had made 2 other similar hampers like this, one for my mum and one for my in-laws! Lovely isnt it?

Happy Chinese New Year, Folks!

Alex's Wedding

Congrats to both Alex and Evan. Aiai and me were invited to their wedding dinner at Mandarin Meritus Hotel at Orchard Road. The bride and the groom were all IT background and naturally, their guests were somehow all IT related industries. The guys sitted at the same table were all from NEC and HP. Aiai even recognised some of her long business partners that night.

The food was good but their desert was even better - My favourite - Yum Paste! hee..

Guess who we met after the dinner? We met Subbie just outside the hotel lobby! What a small small world!

My "Off-Site" meeting

It is one of those fine days which I got the 'permission' from my boss to visit my 'clients' for a 'off-site' meeting. The office is located at Tiong Bahru, Central Plaza. Very impressive office located at the highest floor. A view down from its conferess room will make you wanna work for the company.

The meeting started at 10am and I was all well-prepared. Had a very good session with their IT director, Nicholas ( a french), Karu, the IT regional manager and Lee, the HR director.

After the meeting, I went down to YewLip to meet up Kenneth, the new Audi fren whose A4 had been 'modified' badly at its external by his wife. He needs his car to do a respray bad. Was quoted $1.2K.

A Walk in Chinatown

Mum will be staying with us for these 2 days as she will be tagging along with Auntie Molly and her friends to do some charity work by distributing ang baos to some VWOs around the island. So, we fetch mum out from JB that sunday afternoon (after jamming for 1hr at the causeway) and we brought her to Chinatown for a walk.

Tho it is not the CNY yet but the crowd was terrible. People come early to buy all the goodies to store up first. I cant imagine how bad the human traffic will be when comes the CNY eve. Everything must go? Everything half price? ;)

We had our dinner at the YumCha restuarant at Chinatown and we enjoyed every single bit of it. We left around 10.45pm.

Black Friday

Not a bad friday for me actually. My fever was gone and I feel like.... myself. ;-)
The weather has good as it was the first sunny day for the past 2 weeks. Aiai and me decided to pay Eric, my bro-in-law, a visit at his new retail shop at Bugis Point.

Eric is dealing with all Stainless Steel items and his shop is very nicely done up. If you are looking for something special for yourself or your love ones, why not drop by and see for yourself. His products range from rings, bracelets to even hi-end products like corporate gifts.

Next, we had our dinner at Vava Voom, a viet restuarant along the street. Not bad actually just found abit salty. :-) Met Mel4Fun and as he came to pick up his vagsg calendar and had a good chat with him and his wife.

We catched a mid night show at Bugis Junction - The Memoirs of Geisha. I give 4/5 with good storyline and beautiful scenery. Make me wanna go back to Japan for holiday!

I got a cold !

Oh man! I havent got a single MC for my past 2yrs plus working in Sumitomo and now, I am sick. Got a cold and having slight fever (37.5) now. Had been sleeping the whole day and wake up around 9.30am to go see the doctor. Clinic Australia is family clinic just a 10min drive from my JB house. He has not been seeing me for years and the first remark he stated was 'Mr Gan, you look younger now' hmm.. what was he trying to imply!? Anyway, got my consultation and my medicine and it costed me RM46. Woh! Seems like the standard of living in JB has lifted.

Aiai will be back tonight and I wanted to be there when she stepped out from the immgration hall. I am going to get well soon. Ok, going to take a nap first and I will head down to the airport.

Selemat Hari Raya Haji

Happy Holiday, folks!
Since its a public holiday today and Chinese New Year is just around the corner, I took up the Osim iEcon 'sucker' to start doing our spring cleaning. Getting those curtains are one big challenge for me as I had never got that piece of thing down before. Called up the curtain cleaning company to pick them up later this afternoon for dry cleaning and I am doing the rest of the cleaning now. Aiai will be amazed by the smooth and shinny floor when she is back from Taiwan.

Congratulations to both Lydia and Mike!

Sunday with Jeff

It was a wet sunday when Jeff and Sylvia had their first flea market stall setup at China Square. I was called to help out on their jade and gems sales but the sales was really bad. Nothing had been sold after 4hrs of standing there and hitting mosquitoes. Jeff decided to call it a day ard 4.15pm

We had our dinner at Project Blood cafe, Paragon. Jade is a working staff there and able to get a good 40% for our final billing. The food was good and the wasabi chips were heaven.

We catched a 9.45pm movie at Lido - The Dark.

How it started

Friends have been doing it... and why not me?

This should start the first chapter of my blog.
Whats a blog? To me, or any layman, its just simply an online diary for an individual.
And I just want to keep this blog of mine a very simple one. Something which I can put down some of my personal memory down for me to flash back time after time.

.. and the story begins..
